Battle Ground Rotary was chartered June 17, 2010. The Club was sponsored by Lewis River Rotary. Gilda Ciraulo, a former member of Lewis River Rotary, was instrumental in forming the club and was our first club president.
The Club has been very active, as chairs of each of the five avenues of service have all been providing service above self since inception. The Club has been involved in programs such as the Lunch Buddy Program, Highway Clean Up, Children’s Christmas Party, and various International Projects. An Interact Club was sponsored during the Club’s second year. Several members of the Club have traveled to Central America to attend the International Project Fair and research potential projects for the Club. Among the projects the Club supports are a scholarship program for underprivileged students and a wheel chair and prosthesis project in Guatemala. Locally, the Club led the way to place a “Welcome to Battle Ground” sign at the Gardner Center and continue to provide maintenance for the site. Dictionaries have been provided to third grade students in the Battle Ground school district and members have participated in mock interviews at Battle Ground High School.
In October 2011 the first fundraising event, The Black and White Affair, was held. This was followed by the second fundraiser in July 2012, Tastes and Tunes.
